Eating my Oranges

By Barry, Tuesday, October 20, 2009

Navigation: previous page, home page

Having planted the Lemon and Orange Trees in the south garden, I had noticed some bits of the leaves disappearing.

It was totally amazing to find out that the culprit was the common Wasps that inhabit every location of the country and annoy us so much.

It's more natural to see the Wasps on dead wood, chewing the lose material to gather material for nest building.

Not far from the Orange Tree, the Clematis and Passion Fruit climbers have started to bloom in the higher branches of the Willow Tree.

These would continue to bloom until October when everything begins to die back for the Winter months.

Other Pictures today; the Common Orchids have finished flowering and the seed pods are forming; the Blueberries are starting to ripen, the Peaches too; and the herbs on the back step are growing great.

I see you have very beautiful passion flowers too. I bet they have a great fragrance. The peach looks very fresh and delicious. I only have a fake peach tree at home.

@lotusleaf, yea,the little buggers are always annoying me in some form or another, I only removed a nest from the roof too.

@Stephanie, I got around 4 large bowls worth, I don't think the birds can see the colour so well.

@Autumn Bell, actually they have no smell that I can detect, but who knows :D I didn't know there was such a thing as fake peach, but I do have mock orange too and flowering gooseberry that are both fake plants.

It is nice to receive your comments, sorry to hear that wasps chewed up your lemon, hope it will be over soon. Your berries looks great, it must be yummy.

Wasps can be so annoying! They made a hive where I usually do the weeding and click away at butterflies. I smoked them out (had to) and they simply shifted base about 2 feet away!!

It's nice to see what's happening in your garden. The peaches and blueberries look so good!
